Grandma’s House

How
I wish to be
At grandma’s house again.
Receiving tender-loving care and cookies galore,
I would be happier and coherent all the more.
For I am too poor to live in my own house, and father no longer cares.
All he shows me is glares. I no longer feel welcome in this house of mine.
But grandma’s house I would go to on the flick of a dime. For grandma I would do anything.
And for me, grandma would color the dark grey sky over with the coolest blue.
I’d be much happier with that hue. And grandma would smile the widest grin.
There’s no way this happy dream could be sin. He may call me names. He may beat me
down. I may still love father, but this love is a crime. Father may not forgive this deviation.
But I can no longer bear to seek amnesty, and he can no longer bear aberration.
