Snow Days with You

When I was five years old
You took me to play in the snow
It’s the earliest memory I have of it now I made snow angels
You looked at me and smiled
Looking proud

Each year after my brother and I went out in the snow
You met us outside with hot cocoa
And we let the snowflakes fall on our faces

When I became a teenager I didn’t think it was fun anymore
I stayed inside
I only came out to reluctantly help you shovel
I hated the cold

In my twenties I realized that most winters now aren’t snowy
And I remembered the importance of family
How time passes by quickly

So now I say yes to building snowmen
Even if they never look right
And to snowball fights
I’m determined to win
Even if it might seem childish

No matter how old I get
I will always let you make me hot cocoa
And stand with you out in the snow
